No. 11 Georgia baseball continued its dominant weekend at Foley Field, shutting out Oakland 11\u20130 in seven innings Saturday afternoon in the second game of a doubleheader, powered by efficient pitching and timely offense.<\/p>\n
After a run-rule victory earlier in the day, the Bulldogs wasted little time carrying that momentum into the nightcap, combining for 10 hits while limiting the Golden Grizzlies to just one hit in another complete performance on both sides of the ball.<\/p>\n
Junior right-hander Zach Brown\u00a0delivered one of his strongest outings in a Georgia uniform.<\/p>\n
Brown tied a career high with seven strikeouts across four scoreless innings, allowing only one hit while consistently attacking Oakland hitters early in counts. His command helped Georgia\u2019s pitching staff rack up 11 total strikeouts while issuing minimal traffic on the bases.<\/p>\n
Junior Jordan Stephens followed in relief, continuing the shutout effort as Georgia\u2019s staff secured its second consecutive run-rule victory of the day.<\/p>\n
Georgia jumped ahead immediately in the first inning when junior Tre Phelps launched a two-run home run, extending his hitting streak, dating back to last season, to 25 games.<\/p>\n
Phelps finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and continued to anchor a lineup that has consistently produced throughout the series.<\/p>\n
Head coach Wes Johnson emphasized how multiple hitters are contributing rather than relying on one standout performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a lot to talk about,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cBrennan Hudson is a guy who doesn’t get talked about enough. Tre Phelps is on fire. Kolby Branch is phenomenal. Jackson finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and now leads the Bulldogs with eight home runs this season.<\/p>\n
Sophomore\u00a0Rylan Lujo and senior Ryan Black produced back-to-back RBI hits, each driving in two runs before senior Brennan Hudson capped the frame with a three-run home run \u2014 his second homer of the day across the doubleheader \u2014 pushing Georgia firmly in control.<\/p>\n
Hudson finished 1-for-3 with three RBIs as Georgia\u2019s lineup continued to showcase its depth from top to bottom.<\/p>\n
Junior infielder Ryan Wynn credited the team\u2019s collective mindset.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust sticking to our plan, our approach,\u201d Wynn said. \u201cTrying to stay in the zone as much as possible and making them work for the outs that they do get.\u201d<\/p>\n
