LONG BEACH \u2013 A man has died and others have been injured in a shooting at a grand opening ceremony in Long Beach on Mar. 1.<\/p>\n
Marathon Burger opened its newest location in the 200 block of Pine Ave., where a former Johnny Rockets stood.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by the family of Nipsey Hussle, who started the Marathon brand, Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson, rapper Snoop Dogg, whose family invested in the location, and a host of local radio personalities on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony that went off without a hitch.<\/p>\n
The jubilant event was marred by a reported shooting around 3:30 p.m., according to the Long Beach Police Department.<\/p>\n
Video shows an injured victim being wheeled on a stretcher into an awaiting ambulance. The victim reportedly died from his injuries at a local hospital.<\/p>\n
It is not known if the victim attended the event or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.<\/p>\n
Long Beach Police Department personnel were on hand for the event and haven\u2019t reported having a description of the suspect.<\/p>\n
There has been no official statement on the matter from Mayor Richardson\u2019s office although he has posted several videos of the ceremony on social media.<\/p>\n
The day before the city of Los Angeles celebrated the life of Nipsey Hussle by dedicating the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd. and Slauson Ave. as \u201cNipsey Hussle Square\u201d.<\/p>\n
The midday event had NO publicly reported safety issues.<\/p>\n
