The company recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/2026\/01\/23\/din-tai-fung-sets-opening-date-for-irvine-spectrum-location\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">unveiled its latest restaurant at Irvine Spectrum Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The upscale Korean barbecue restaurant Kalbi Social Club also is opening this summer. The chain is best known for its kalbi (short ribs) cooked at tabletop grills.<\/p>\n<p>For the main interior of the mall, a host of new merchants also are either open or debuting soon:<\/p>\n<p>HeyTea is open now, featuring signature drinks like the Grape Boom, blending tea with fruit.<\/p>\n<p>TravisMathew: golf apparel.<\/p>\n<p>Kebab Lab: Mediterranean street food in bowls and wraps.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the year:<\/p>\n<p>Caitlyn Minimalist: a local jewelry brand.<\/p>\n<p>Palmetto Superfoods: Brazilian acai bowls and smoothies.<\/p>\n<p>Sanlejur: everyday jewelry essentials in 14k gold, sterling silver and waterproof stainless steel.<\/p>\n<p>Opening next year:<\/p>\n<p>Shibuyala: A Japanese beauty retailer that sells J-beauty and Korean-beauty products.<\/p>\n<p>The mall is undergoing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/2025\/03\/17\/status-update-rivian-10-retailers-joining-brea-mall-pasta-sisters-opens-in-costa-mesa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">a multimillion-dollar overhaul<\/a> that has seen the addition of a new wing with outdoor access to shops and restaurants. (Photo courtesy of Jaimee Gerard)\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" class=\"icon-enlarge mng-gallery-fullscreen-expand\" aria-label=\"Expand fullscreen slideshow\">Expand<\/a><br \/>\nCrafters studio opens in Huntington Beach<\/p>\n<p>The membership-based Sew Cal Craft Studio is open in Huntington Beach, offering a crafting environment for the makers community.<\/p>\n<p>The space \u2014 across the street from 5 Points Plaza and Trader Joe\u2019s \u2014 invites members of all skill levels in sewing, knitting, crochet, embroidery, quilting, doll and teddy bear making, needle felting and painting.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to monthly memberships, the studio offers drop-in sew sessions and \u201ccurated craft supplies\u201d for sale.<\/p>\n<p>Memberships range from single-day passes for $35 up to $150 for unlimited monthly access. A $75 monthly membership is available for select 3.5-hour time slots during the day.<\/p>\n<p>Participants at Sew Cal Craft do not need to be members to take classes, according to studio founder Jaimee Gerard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur vision for Sew Cal Craft Studio is to create a space where creativity, learning, and connection come together,\u201d Gerard said via email. \u201cBy limiting memberships, we\u2019re able to maintain an intimate, welcoming atmosphere where every member feels supported while still keeping classes open to the broader community. The Irvine university said he brings \u201cextensive experience\u201d as a professor, department chair and assistant dean. The university said Cardenas, who was born and raised in San Diego near the border with Mexico, has an appreciation for international collaboration and cross-cultural exchange. Previously he was at the Forbes School of Business &amp; Technology at the University of Arizona\u2019s Global Campus where he was assistant dean and professor and department chair.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Medina is the new chief people and culture officer at Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County in Irvine. She comes with at least 17 years of human resources experience and previously spent six years at Charitable Ventures, and before that was at Silverado Senior Living, Goodwill of Orange County and New Directions for Women.
