{"id":201341,"date":"2026-03-03T00:40:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T00:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/201341\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T00:40:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T00:40:08","slug":"lbcc-opens-new-home-for-aerospace-and-manufacturing-programs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/201341\/","title":{"rendered":"LBCC opens new home for aerospace and manufacturing programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">Long Beach City College (LBCC) recently welcomed a new addition to its Trades, Technology, and Community Learning Campus with the grand opening of the Building MM complex.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The new space will house the school\u2019s architecture, anthropology, HVAC, carpentry, horticulture and plant science programs, geared towards students seeking careers in aerospace, construction and advanced manufacturing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cBuilding MM reflects our responsibility to prepare students for the industries shaping Long Beach\u2019s future,\u201d said Uduak-Joe Ntuk, president of the LBCC Board of Trustees, in a public statement. \u201cAs we continue to grow our Space Beach, we must connect students to real opportunities in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, construction, and sustainable technologies. Voter-approved bond funding allows us to invest in facilities that support workforce development and long-term economic growth for our entire community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Building MM was built in two phases, beginning with a full demolition of facilities originally built in the 1950s, and resulting in a newly constructed complex designed for the modern use of trades and technical programs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Gensler and HPI Architecture designed the complex\u2019s two-phase modernization and construction was led by AMG &amp; Associates, Inc. Project oversight was provided by Cordoba Corporation, Long Beach Community College District\u2019s bond management company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Construction of the complex cost $50 million, with the money coming from state funds and voter-approved Measure E and Measure LB bonds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThis investment directly improves how students learn and train,\u201d said LBCC Superintendent-President, Dr. Mike Mu\u00f1oz, in a public statement. \u201cThe new classrooms and labs are designed to support applied instruction and current industry practices.
