\"\"<\/a>Santa Clara County Sheriff\u2019s Department<\/p>\n

Following the bombing of Iran by the U.S. and Israel over the weekend, the Santa Clara County Sheriff\u2019s Office issued a statement about the potential \u201cripple effects\u201d the resulting conflict in the Middle East region could have on local communities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office said on March 1 that it is \u201cclosely monitoring the rapidly unfolding situation\u201d in and around Iran. \u201cWe want to reassure our residents that, at this time, we have received no information indicating any credible threats within Santa Clara County<\/a>,\u201d says the statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As a precaution, Sheriff Robert Jonsen\u2019s office has assigned more deputies to conduct \u201chigh visibility\u201d patrols at places of worship, community centers and other gathering sites \u201cto support safety and provide additional reassurance to residents,\u201d says the statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Authorities are also maintaining active communication with local faith leaders and community organizations, the sheriff\u2019s office said. The office is also working with local, state and federal authorities to monitor any potential threats and adapt security protocols.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Morgan Hill Police Department issued a similar statement on March 1, noting that it will also increasing patrols around places of worship and other gathering places.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery member of our diverse community should feel safe and secure,\u201d Jonsen said. \u201cDeputies are here to serve you, and if something appears suspicious, report it right away.\u201d<\/p>\n

The U.S. and Israel began bombing Iran Feb. 28.
