LOS ALTOS, Calif.\u2014San Jos\u00e9 State got four strong performances on the golf course Monday as the Spartan women\u2019s golf team won the Battle of the Bay, 4-2, over No. 1 Stanford in match play at the Los Altos Golf and Country Club.<\/p>\n

Kleopatra Kozakiewicz<\/a> led off for the Spartans, facing Andrea Revuelta, the No. 3 amateur in the world and No. 2 player in the NCAA. Kozakiewicz trailed by as many as two early in the round, tied the match on 14, and took the lead with a birdie on 17. The two made par on 18 for the first Spartan point of the day as Kozakiewicz won 1-up.<\/p>\n

Ting-Yu Chang<\/a> defeated Anna Song, 1-up, for another Spartan point and tie Stanford 2-2. Chang never trailed in the match, leading by as many as four before the two players tied on the final two holes.<\/p>\n

Lotte Schuhr<\/a> won 6-and-4 over Megha Ganne, the No. 5 world and No. 6 NCAA-ranked player. Schuhr never trailed in her match, up one after the first hole, and won three consecutive holes (12-14) to win the match and the Spartan point.<\/p>\n

Isabella Cioe<\/a> won 2-and-1 over Paula Martin Sampedro, the No. 2 world and No. 5 NCAA-ranked player. Cioe also never trailed in her match. She was 3-up after 10 holes, but Martin Sampedro got within one with five holes remaining. The two tied on holes 14, 15, and 16, before Cioe made a birdie on 17 to go up two and win the match.<\/p>\n

UP NEXT \u2013 The Spartans co-host the Juli Inkster TPC Harding Park Invitational next Monday and Tuesday, March 9-10, at TPC Harding Park. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday with tee times starting at 8 a.m.<\/p>\n
