This included Robert Picardo (The Doctor) and Zo\u00eb Steiner (Tarima Sadal) who delighted fans with a live performance. Steiner also had a chance to run into the original Betazoid, Marina Sirtis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSan Francisco\u201d at sea<\/p>\n<p>The series Starfleet Academy is set around the relaunch of the titular school back home at its campus in San Francisco. To emphasize this point, the series premiere featured <a href=\"https:\/\/trekmovie.com\/2026\/01\/17\/star-trek-starfleet-academy-soundtrack-out-now-watch-rufus-wainwright-record-san-francisco\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">new recording of Rufus Wainwright<\/a> performing a cover of the classic 1967 Scott McKenzie song \u201cSan Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flower Covers in Your Hair).\u201d On Star Trek: The Cruise, Steiner performed the song live, and she was accompanied by a narration from Robert Picardo. She posted the performance on her Instagram, which you can watch below.<\/p>\n<p>Betazoid summit<\/p>\n<p>On Starfleet Academy Zo\u00eb Steiner plays a Betazoid, and while on the cruise, she had a chance to meet Marina Sirtis, who in 1987 introduced the telepathic race with her Deanna Troi, in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Steiner posted a photo of the pair from the cruise on her Instagram story over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trekmovie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/zoemarina-cruise.jpg\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-130013\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-130013\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/zoemarina-cruise-451x640.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"451\" height=\"640\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-130013\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sirtis and Steiner on Star Trek: The Cruise (Zo\u00eb Steiner\/Instagram)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trekmovie.com\/2026\/01\/16\/exclusive-starfleet-academy-cadet-cast-talks-star-trek-lore-character-reveals-and-jonathan-frakes\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Speaking to TrekMovie<\/a> ahead of the premiere, Steiner admitted she didn\u2019t know anything about Betazoids before being cast, but after doing her research for the role, she felt an affinity, saying:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just, I feel like I am a Betazoid. So, my whole life, I\u2019ve been told I was too sensitive and all that kind of thing, and [it\u2019s] kind of like an Achilles\u2019 heel of mine. So it\u2019s been such a privilege to get to play a role like Tarima, where that is not a weakness.
