Chapman University received a $10 million gift from Amy and Jad Duncan for the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering.<\/p>\n
The gift was announced during Chapman\u2019s State of the University Address on Feb. 27.<\/p>\n
\u201cYour gift will support visionary leadership and deepen our experiential learning in the Fowler School of Engineering,\u201d Chapman President Matt Parlow said during the address.<\/p>\n
It was Parlow\u2019s first State of the University address as president after stepping into the role last October, succeeding Daniele Struppa.<\/p>\n
Other gifts included another $20 million gift from Christine Cross, a longtime supporter of Chapman, for endowed student scholarships. Cross and her husband Lon previously gave $10 million to establish the Christine and Lon Cross Endowed Scholarship Fund for need-based scholarships. The couple are also philanthropic donors behind the Klein Legacy Foundation, which has helped fund programs within the Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.<\/p>\n
Both gifts helped bring Chapman\u2019s total fundraising amount to more than $480 million for its Inspire Campaign, which aims to raise $500 million by 2028.<\/p>\n
During the address, Parlow also announced that the university\u2019s endowment has surpassed $1 billion for the first time in the school\u2019s 165-year-history.
