Here\u2019s your chance.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oaklandca.gov\/Government\/Boards-Commissions\/Police-Commission\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Police Commission<\/a>, the civilian agency overseeing the Oakland Police Department, is inviting the public to weigh in on the search for the department\u2019s leader at six upcoming community forums.<\/p>\n<p>All forums are free and open to all. Historically, those interviews have been accessible to the public.<\/p>\n<p>From early to mid-June, the full commission will present a list of three finalists to the mayor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>In mid- or late July, Mayor Barbara Lee will announce her pick for OPD\u2019s next police chief.<\/p>\n<p>The timeline is subject to change, according to the commission.<\/p>\n<p>The hunt for Oakland\u2019s next top cop comes after former Chief Floyd Mitchell <a href=\"https:\/\/oaklandside.org\/2025\/10\/08\/oakland-police-chief-resigns-floyd-mitchell\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stepped down<\/a> in early December after roughly a year and a half on the job.
