The NHL Trade Deadline is this Friday, and for the San Jose Sharks, decisions will have to be made about Kiefer Sherwood and more.<\/p>\n
Sherwood, who was already traded once<\/a> this season, has been rumored to be involved in a potential second deal. Per multiple NHL insiders, the Sharks are reportedly open to flipping the winger if they can\u2019t agree on a contract extension.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Sharks are open to the possibility of flipping Sherwood if they can\u2019t get him signed,\u201d Pierre LeBrun\u00a0wrote<\/a> <\/a>in The Athletic<\/a>\u00a0on Friday. \u201cIt\u2019s more likely than not he\u2019s moved if the Sharks can\u2019t extend him over the next week.\u201d<\/p>\n TSN\u2019s Darren Dreger believes the situation between Sherwood and the Sharks will come to a head very quickly. Well, not much. The Sharks winger told reporters that he\u2019s leaving all contract negotiations to his agent.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m just waiting, just trying to focus on playing. When my agent has an update, he\u2019ll let me know,\u201d Sherwood said. \u201cWe\u2019re just staying patient and just focusing on playing, and everything else will take care of itself.\u201d<\/p>\n Sherwood has played four games with the Sharks but hasn\u2019t recorded a point despite playing on a line with Macklin Celebrini<\/a> for the majority of his time in Teal. On Tuesday, Sherwood will line up on the right wing of Alexander Wennberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cOur center position here is one of our strengths. I don\u2019t think it really matters where you\u2019re at; they all bring it,\u201d Sherwood said.<\/p>\n San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky<\/a> talked about the move to swap Sherwood to Wennberg\u2019s line after the morning skate.<\/p>\n \u201cThe third period [last game] was one of our better periods of that night,\u201d Warsofsky said. \u201cI think it just takes a little bit of heat off [Sherwood] here to get to his identity of what he brings. I think he was playing really well for Mack and Will.
