During the league\u2019s inaugural full season, girls from Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of San Francisco led every step of the creative process in collaboration with the youth organization Design FC. The finished kits will be unveiled later this year and will be worn by each team, highlighting the girls\u2019 voices, communities, and visions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Players of Tomorrow league participants engaged in a hands-on design workshop at the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of San Francisco Columbia Park Clubhouse\u00a0with Bay FC\u00a0Goalkeeper Jordan\u00a0Silkowitz\u00a0and Forward Keira Barry,\u00a0exploring the connection between sport, storytelling, and visual identity. Girls integrated their experiences of\u00a0what soccer and sports\u00a0mean to them, how their communities inspire them, and\u00a0how they will feel\u00a0when they step onto the pitch in their\u00a0own\u00a0designs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we\u00a0helped\u00a0launch\u00a0the\u00a0Players of Tomorrow League\u00a0with the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs and Visa, we\u00a0believed\u00a0access to sport\u00a0meant more than just playing soccer. It\u00a0also means\u00a0access to\u00a0expression,\u00a0confidence,\u00a0and opportunity,\u201d\u00a0said Bay FC Executive Vice President of Communications, Community Impact, and Public Affairs Lisa Goodwin Scharff.\u00a0\u201cThis year, we are\u00a0not only launching our first full season of the league, but we are also\u00a0advancing\u00a0it\u00a0by providing girls with the opportunity to participate while wearing\u00a0kits\u00a0that authentically represent their\u00a0neighborhoods\u00a0and the future they are shaping.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In its first official full season, Bay FC\u2019s Players of Tomorrow league, launched in partnership with Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of San Francisco and Street Soccer USA and supported by Visa, aims to increase access to soccer for elementary and middle school girls, especially in neighborhoods that have been historically underrepresented in organized sports specifically for girls. With this kit design program, the league is also giving girls the rare opportunity to shape the visual identity of their teams from the very beginning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis partnership is so exciting for everyone at Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of San Francisco. Building on that success, Bay FC and Founding Partner Visa teamed up with Design FC again this year to bring their creative process to the Players of Tomorrow all-girls league. Design FC is a youth design organization that teaches creative thinking, self-expression, and autobiographical storytelling through the design of sport jerseys and apparel.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to expand our partnership with Bay FC and Visa on such an incredible initiative. Our goal is to expose young players to the creative side of\u00a0sport and\u00a0give them the opportunity to design the jerseys\u00a0they\u2019ll\u00a0be playing in every week.\u00a0We\u2019ve\u00a0seen how impactful this process can be. It gives young players ownership over their team\u2019s identity, and opens their eyes to the many creative ways they can be around the sport they love,\u201d said Design FC Founder and Executive Director Omri Gal.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s\u00a0design process\u00a0also builds on Bay FC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/bayfc.com\/community\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bayfc.com\/community\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bay It Forward<\/a>\u00a0initiative,\u00a0the club\u2019s community impact program launched\u00a0last season\u00a0to expand access to sports and create leaders across all nine Bay Area counties.
