(KRON) \u2014 Police released body-worn camera videos from a chaotic shootout in downtown San Jose that left a carjacking suspect dead on January 21. A sergeant was shot in the head and the suspect, 30-year-old Mohamed Husien, attempted to carjack the sergeant\u2019s patrol car, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Bystanders who were caught in crossfire described the melee as like a warzone. Law enforcement officers opened fire against the suspect four separate times before he was plowed over by a police SUV in downtown San Jose and died. The wounded sergeant survived.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, San Jose Police Department Chief Paul Joseph released the body camera videos publicly<\/a>, as well as videos recorded by a police helicopter. (Warning: Video may be disturbing for some viewers.)<\/p>\n

The newly-released videos shed new light on how the violent incident unfolded. Three\u00a0SJPD sergeants and six officers were involved, and all of their cameras were activated.<\/p>\n

Police said the incident began when Husien entered an auto dealership on Capitol Expressway in San Jose, brandished a gun at an employee, and stole a car.<\/p>\n

After fleeing to San Benito County, Hollister police officers and deputies shot at Husien. He\u00a0carjacked a second vehicle and fled from Hollister back to San Jose, police said.<\/p>\n

The stolen car collided with vehicles that were stopped at the intersection of Julian Street and Notre Dame Avenue downtown.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the collision, the suspect exited his vehicle and charged at an arriving San Jose police sergeant, immediately firing multiple rounds as the sergeant exited his patrol vehicle. The sergeant was struck in the head by the suspect\u2019s gunfire, fracturing his skull,\u201d SJPD wrote.<\/p>\n

Body camera videos show officers chasing Husien, and a barrage of bullets can be heard in the background.<\/p>\n

An SJPD officer\u2019s vehicle accelerated directly toward Husien and ran him over, helicopter video shows. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n

The Santa Clara County District Attorney\u2019s Office is reviewing the legality of the police shooting.<\/p>\n
