Britney Spears was arrested Wednesday night in Westlake Village on suspicion of DUI, according to online records from the Ventura County Sheriff\u2019s Office, with the singer\u2019s representative calling the incident \u201cinexcusable.\u201d<\/p>\n
Spears, 44, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 Wednesday night and booked around 3 a.m. Thursday. Her car was impounded, and she was released just after 6 a.m.<\/p>\n
The pop star\u2019s occupation was listed as \u201ccelebrity.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cThis was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,\u201d a representative for Spears told The Times in a statement Thursday morning. \u201cBritney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in a long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney\u2019s life. Hopefully she can get the support she needs during this difficult time. <\/p>\n
\u201cHer boys are going to be spending time with her,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cHer loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n
Spears has a May 4 hearing date set in Ventura County Superior Court in Ventura.<\/p>\n
Also this week, Spears obtained a permanent restraining order against a Louisiana man identified only as Donald, according to TMZ<\/a>. The performer reportedly said in court documents that she does not know the man, who was arrested in 2025 after appearing at her L.A.-area home and has allegedly been harassing her online since 2013. <\/p>\n Spears sold rights to her entire catalog to music publishing company New Wave in early February for a reported $200 million<\/a>. <\/p>\n The pop singer was previously arrested in 2007 in Los Angeles County, shortly after her divorce from Kevin Federline was finalized.
