A man was killed and a woman was wounded in a double stabbing Monday in Sacramento\u2019s Downtown Commons, and police continued searching Tuesday morning for the attacker.<\/p>\n
Officers found the victims about 9:45 p.m. in the 400 block of K Street, Sacramento police officials said. Both had been stabbed at least once and were taken to UC Davis Medical Center, where the man died of his injuries. The woman\u2019s condition was not known Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
Family and friends identified the man as Dustin DeWitt, 21, of Stockton, according to a GoFundMe campaign started Monday afternoon<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cHis passing has been devastating for his family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know him,\u201d organizer Kimora Gray wrote on the campaign page. \u201cDustin was a kind and caring person who always put others first. His smile and laughter brought joy to everyone around him, and his absence is deeply felt by all who loved him.\u201d<\/p>\n The fundraiser said donations would help cover funeral and burial costs and support DeWitt\u2019s family. In less than three hours, the campaign had raised more than $18,000 of its $24,000 goal.<\/p>\n The condition of the woman DeWitt was with was not known Monday evening.<\/p>\n Officers searched the Downtown Commons area near the Yard House restaurant and a Holiday Inn as homicide detectives and crime scene investigators processed the scene.<\/p>\n Police have not announced any arrests, and the investigation remained ongoing.<\/p>\n This story was originally published March 3, 2026 at 7:49 AM.<\/p>\n
