Due to the proximity of the work area to the 16th Street off-ramp and the merging traffic lanes from westbound Business 80\/Capital City Freeway to westbound US 50, the off-ramp, auxiliary lane and the connector for westbound US 50 are scheduled to be closed for the duration of this work. The connector for eastbound US 50 will remain open.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, March 6, through 5 a.m. Monday, March 9, crews are scheduled to implement the following traffic controls:<\/p>\n<p>    Westbound US 50 will be reduced to four open lanes (#1 to #4). Lanes #5 and #6, will be closed.<br \/>\n    Westbound Business 80\/Capital City Freeway to westbound US 50 connector will be closed.<br \/>\n    Westbound 16th Street off-ramp and auxiliary lane will be closed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"us hwy50_rehab_project\" style=\"height: 315px; width: 600px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/us-hwy50_rehab_project.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Caltrans reminds drivers to expect delays, stay alert when traveling through work zones and pay close attention to advance warning signs. Motorists are encouraged to plan and allow extra travel time.<\/p>\n<p>The ongoing work is part of a project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy vehicle lanes from the US 50\/Interstate 5 interchange to the US 50\/Watt Avenue interchange.<\/p>\n<p>The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph, and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement.
