An unhoused individual was found dead near Ohlone Greenway in Northwest Berkeley Thursday afternoon, as first reported by The Berkeley Scanner.<\/p>\n
At 2:42 p.m., a 9-1-1 caller told the Berkeley Fire Department they saw an unhoused person unresponsive near the trail, according to a statement by the Berkeley fire and police departments.<\/p>\n
First responders arrived on scene and found an individual with blood on their face and no pulse, according to the statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cPersonnel initiated full resuscitation efforts and advanced life support measures, but the individual remained unresponsive,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n
First responders then pronounced the individual deceased at the scene and left the body \u201cin the care of\u201d the Berkeley Police Department.<\/p>\n
BPD is investigating the incident, and the individual\u2019s cause of death is currently unknown, according to the statement.<\/p>\n
