COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – No. 22 Texas A&M baseball swept Oakland in three games Saturday, closing out the series with a seven inning 12-1 victory. Game three was moved up a day due to weather.

The Aggies entered the day having already taken both games of a Friday doubleheader against the Golden Grizzlies. Here is a game rundown:

Why did A&M win? The Aggies carried a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning. College Station native Blake Binderup singled through the right side for an RBI to get things rolling in frame.

Two at-bats later, on a throwing error from Oakland, Sawyer Farr tallied with a two RBI double, putting A&M ahead 5-0. Still with no outs in the inning, Terrence Keil and Caden Sorrell both put-up RBIs to seal off a six-run inning for A&M.

In the bottom of the fifth, Sorrell went yard, hitting a two-run homerun to right-center field for his eighth homerun of the season. Saturday was Sorrell’s 21st birthday.

“I didn’t really want to change anything just because it was my birthday,” Sorrell said. “I’ve been doing good with the routine I’ve had so far, so I kind of try to forget it was my birthday a little bit this morning. It’s definitely started off pretty great. I mean, you can’t ask for much more.”

Who stood out? Sorrell went 3-for-3 during Saturday’s win over the Golden Grizzlies, notching two runs, three RBIs and one homerun.

“When it’s in the zone and he swings, you got a good probability of a ball being hit hard,” Texas A&M head coach Michael Earley said. “He’s just got to continue to hone that zone and get his pitch. And when he does, he hits it about as well as anyone.”

Also, for the Aggies, Binderup went 2-for-4 brough in two runs on three RBIs and one homerun.

What’s next? A&M hosts Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before opening conference play at Oklahoma on March 13.
