Police are investigating a shooting Saturday in a busy shopping center parking lot in Fresno.<\/p>\n
According to Fresno Police Lt. Michael Pierce, officers responded to the scene around 5:45 p.m. to the 7500 block of N. Blackstone Avenue, just south of the Raising Cane\u2019s.<\/p>\n
Police received reports of a disturbance between two groups of people, followed by gunfire in the Dollar Tree parking lot.<\/p>\n
A ShotSpotter alert indicated two rounds were fired, and witnesses reported that the suspected shooter fled the area in a red Nissan sedan.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they located two shell casings in the parking lot, but investigators did not find any victims.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt this time we do not have any evidence to suggest that somebody was shot today,\u201d Pierce said.<\/p>\n
Investigators say the people involved in the disturbance are believed to between 15 and 20 years old, though no further descriptions have been released.<\/p>\n
Police are currently searching for the suspect vehicle and following up on a possible address where the car may have gone.<\/p>\n
Authorities are also speaking with witnesses and collecting video footage from cell phones and vehicles.<\/p>\n
Police said it was fortunate no one was injured.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a very busy parking lot, especially at 5:45 on a Saturday,\u201d Pierce said. \u201cPeople are shopping here, getting food. It was very fortunate someone did not get hit.\u201d<\/p>\n
