{"id":212332,"date":"2026-03-10T00:09:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-10T00:09:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/212332\/"},"modified":"2026-03-10T00:09:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T00:09:07","slug":"cdfw-news-cdfw-initiates-process-to-evaluate-wolf-livestock-compensation-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/212332\/","title":{"rendered":"CDFW News | CDFW Initiates Process to Evaluate Wolf-Livestock Compensation Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"paragraph\">Media Note:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/filelib.wildlife.ca.gov\/Public\/OCEO\/WLCP%20Graphic%20and%20Photos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Graphic and photos available for download\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW)\u00a0has\u00a0started\u00a0a\u00a0process to evaluate California\u2019s Wolf-Livestock Compensation Program (WLCP).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Feb. 23, 2026,\u00a0CDFW held\u00a0a workshop\u00a0with a\u00a0group of\u00a0stakeholder\u00a0representatives\u00a0focused on\u00a0how best to assess the program\u00a0to\u00a0inform potential adjustments to future\u00a0applications\u00a0and funding opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the workshop was to\u00a0identify\u00a0a transparent and collaborative process for evaluating the existing WLCP. The discussion marked the first step in gathering input and perspectives from key\u00a0stakeholder\u00a0groups\u00a0involved in livestock production,\u00a0wolf\u00a0conservation,\u00a0research\u00a0and government agencies.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>CDFW recognizes that the WLCP affects a wide range of interests. Participants were selected based on their\u00a0previous\u00a0involvement in the development of the program, their authority and\u00a0expertise, and their roles\u00a0representing\u00a0multiple interested and affected\u00a0stakeholders.
