(KGET) \u2014 One person was killed in a helicopter crash in a remote area outside Mojave on Monday afternoon, fire officials said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The incident was reported at around 3:17 p.m. near Oak Creek Road and 90th Street West \u2014 a remote area west of Mojave.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.kget.com\/plus\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Watch 17 News, After Sunrise and more local news free on your smart TV. Click to learn more about KGET+ <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash and said a MD Helicopters 369FF was the model helicopter that crashed. \u201cThe helicopter rapidly descended into terrain while laying powerlines,\u201d the NTSB said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Kern County fire officials said crews arrived and found the burning wreckage of the downed helicopter. The fire was extinguished and one person was confirmed dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">NTSB investigators are headed to the crash site.
