SCOTTS VALLEY \u2014 Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of a weekend crash along Highway 17 that killed a 44-year-old San Jose man.<\/p>\n
Officers with the California Highway Patrol responded at approximately 9:59 p.m. Sunday to reports of a crash on the southbound side of the highway south of Glenwood Drive. The man was driving a 2008 Suzuki SX4 at an unknown speed when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with the center concrete median, according to a CHP release.<\/p>\n
After impact, the Suzuki rolled and crashed into a dirt embankment on the west shoulder of the southbound lanes before coming to a rest. Medical personnel attempted to provide life-saving support upon arrival, but the man suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.<\/p>\n
It remains to be seen why the man lost control of the vehicle and authorities do not know if alcohol or drugs were a factor. The cause of the crash remained under investigation Monday.<\/p>\n
