County for the first time in a decade,\u201d<\/a> March 10). The figure of 2,208 (in 2024) is still exorbitant. In Italy, by comparison, <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fiopsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Invisible-deaths-2022.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">393 people<\/a> died in the streets in 2022. <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.worldometers.info\/world-population\/italy-population\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Italy<\/a> has about 20 million more people than <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ppic.org\/publication\/californias-population\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">California<\/a>, which helps put things in perspective beyond comparisons to previous years.<\/p>\n<p>I guess \u201cthe party\u201d can really pat itself on the back for the \u201cimproving trend,\u201d as the article describes it \u2014 as if we\u2019re talking about the stock market.
