{"id":216823,"date":"2026-03-12T18:54:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T18:54:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/216823\/"},"modified":"2026-03-12T18:54:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T18:54:07","slug":"5-lowriders-featured-on-new-usps-lowrider-forever-stamps-nbc-los-angeles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/216823\/","title":{"rendered":"5 lowriders featured on new USPS \u2018Lowrider Forever\u2019 stamps \u2013 NBC Los Angeles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United States Postal Service (USPS) is rolling out something quintessentially cool this Friday: A new set of Forever stamps showcasing classic lowriders.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/store.usps.com\/store\/product\/lowriders-stamps-S_488204\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cLowrider Forever\u201d<\/a> stamps feature photos of five gorgeous lowrider models, each with its own proper name, of course:<\/p>\n<p>Let the Good Times Roll\/Soy Como Soy: A blue 1946 Chevrolet Fleetline<\/p>\n<p>Eight Figures: A blue 1958 Chevrolet Impala<\/p>\n<p>El Rey: A red 1963 Chevrolet Impala<\/p>\n<p>The Golden Rose: An orange 1964 Chevrolet Impala<\/p>\n<p>Pocket Change: A green 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme<\/p>\n<p>The USPS said art director <a>Antonio Alcal\u00e1 designed the stamps using existing photographs snapped by Humberto \u201cBeto\u201d Mendoza and Philip Gordon, while Danny Alvarado added the pinstriping<\/a> on the designs.<\/p>\n<p>The stamps are \u201ccustomized not just to hop, bounce, and glide over the road surface, but also richly adorned with dazzling paint jobs and luxurious interiors,\u201d the USPS noted.<\/p>\n<p>The 78-cent, self-adhesive stamps are sold in a sheet of 15 (three of each lowrider) for $11.70.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&#8216;The Great American Lowrider Tradition&#8217; explores LA&#8217;s lowrider tradition. Video broadcast Tuesday Sept. 20, 2022 on Today in LA.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>They will officially first be issued out of San Diego but will go on sale nationwide Friday. They can be ordered online, too.<\/p>\n<p>According to the USPS, the commemorative stamps celebrate the lowrider car culture \u201cthat is rooted in the working-class Mexican American\/Chicano communities throughout the American Southwest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NBC Los Angeles is speaking with two owners of the featured lowriders \u2014 The Golden Rose and El Rey \u2014 Thursday about the lowriders&#8217; stamp close-ups.
