Bruins; Sign Kyle Chauvette As EBUG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BOSTON \u2014 Yaroslav Askarov won\u2019t dress against the <a href=\"https:\/\/sharkshockeydigest.com\/tag\/boston-bruins\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"709\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Bruins<\/a> on Thursday, and the San Jose Sharks have signed Kyle Chauvette to an ATO.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">University of New Hampshire goalie Kyle Chauvette has been added to the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SJSharks?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#SJSharks<\/a> roster. Looks like he signed an ATO and could back up Nedeljkovic tonight.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Max Miller (@Real_Max_Miller) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Real_Max_Miller\/status\/2032215684831158589?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 12, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Chauvette is a senior at New Hamshiere, and transferred to UNH after three seasons at Union College. The 24-year-old was UNH\u2019s starting goalie this season and finished with a 13-19-1 record. Chauvette had a 2.63 GAA and a .902 save percentage.<\/p>\n<p>Chauvette was majoring in Economics and now will live the dream of being on an NHL bench for a game. He could play if the San Jose Sharks lose starting goalie <a href=\"https:\/\/sharkshockeydigest.com\/tag\/alex-nedeljkovic\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"2664\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Nedeljkovic<\/a> for any reason.<\/p>\n<p>On <a href=\"https:\/\/unhwildcats.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/kyle-chauvette\/11825\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">UNH\u2019s team website<\/a>, Chauvette has many fun facts about his life, including his dream job: being a professional hockey player. The newest Sharks EBUG is from Goffstown, N.H., and says his favorite athlete of all time is former Pittsburgh Penguins goalie <a href=\"https:\/\/sharkshockeydigest.com\/tag\/marc-andre-fleury\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"2542\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marc-Andre Fleury<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time this season the San Jose Sharks have been forced to use an <a href=\"https:\/\/sharkshockeydigest.com\/tag\/emergency-backup-goalie\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"3045\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emergency Backup Goalie<\/a>, as they did so against the <a href=\"https:\/\/sharkshockeydigest.com\/tag\/philadelphia-flyers\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"720\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The EBUG rule will change after this season, with the NHL allowing teams to sign and bring an EBUG of their choice. There are guidelines the Sharks and other NHL teams must follow when choosing their EBUG.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStarting with the 2026-27 season, the NHL is replacing the traditional local \u201cfan\u201d EBUG system with a\u00a0mandatory, league-approved, full-time traveling backup goalie for every team.
