Meghan Markle paid a surprise visit to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on Thursday. The Duchess of Sussex stopped by in support of the hospital\u2019s Make March Matter<\/a> fundraising campaign. Now in its 11th year, the fundraiser strives to raise $1 million or more within the month of March alone each year through individual and corporate donations.<\/p>\n

In an Instagram post<\/a> sharing photos of Meghan\u2019s visit with patients, the hospital noted funds go toward \u201clifesaving care, research, and innovation\u201d at Children\u2019s Hospital. \u201cThese special moments are a reminder of how powerful creativity can be in fostering joy, connection, and healing,\u201d the caption read.<\/p>\n

Meghan spent time with young patients in the hospital’s Creative Oasis area for a watercolor painting session before visiting bed-bound patients who were unable to leave their rooms. It was her second visit to the hospital<\/a>, having read aloud to patients there in 2024. She also attended a gala<\/a> supporting the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles that same year.<\/p>\n

The visit comes ahead of a planned trip to Australia<\/a> in mid-April, where Meghan and Prince Harry, where the Sussexes will \u201ctake part in a number of private, business and philanthropic engagements.\u201d It will be the couple\u2019s first visit to the country in more than seven years. The Duke and Duchess last visited Australia in October 2018<\/a>, as part of a longer royal tour of the Pacific. They also recently returned from a two-day trip to Jordan<\/a> with the World Health Organization<\/a>, where they visited the Za\u2019atari Refugee Camp<\/a>, for displaced Syrian refugees, among other stops.<\/p>\n
