OAKLAND \u2014 A man with no fewer than 15 felony convictions has been charged in federal court with stashing a shotgun in a burnt-out RV underneath the freeway during a police chase, court records show.<\/p>\n
Anthony Pearson, of Oakland, has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. An FBI agent said in court filings that Pearson has \u201cin excess of 15 felony convictions\u201d and that the charges stem from an incident in May 2025.<\/p>\n
Pearson allegedly led California Highway Patrol officers on a chase, and eluded the agency\u2019s aviation unit long enough to get underneath Interstate 880 and stash the shotgun inside a burnt-out recreational vehicle near Fourth Street. Officers later caught up, arrested Pearson, and discovered the gun inside a duffel bag in the trashed vehicle, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
The charging records say Pearson\u2019s numerous felony convictions include a prior gun possession case.
