A 66-year-old pedestrian was killed Saturday in Madera.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to the fatality at 6:50 p.m. at Vineyard and E. 6th Street.<\/p>\n
Officers said a vehicle drove east on E. 6th Street, briefly stopped at the stop sign at Vineyard Avenue, then proceeded through the intersection as the pedestrian walked north in the west crosswalk.<\/p>\n
The driver struck the pedestrian and stopped. Police said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
The driver was cooperative and remained on the scene, police said.<\/p>\n
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol are a factor.<\/p>\n
