OTTAWA \u2014 The San Jose Sharks will insert Pavol Regenda into the lineup against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday. <\/p>\n
Regenda, 26, will play for the first time in six games, Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky<\/a> said pregame. Regenda has played 18 games this season and has eight goals and one assist.<\/p>\n Before the Sharks\u2019 4-2 win<\/a> over the Montreal Canadiens<\/a> on Saturday, Warsofsky was asked about when Regenda might return to the lineup.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re putting the lineup that we think is the best lineup. Reggie is going to get in there eventually, but we can only address so many players,\u201d Warsofsky said. \u201cThere are hard decisions that we have to make as coaches, as an organization, on who fits where and match up we\u2019re in. There\u2019s a lot of detail that goes into it. He\u2019s not a guy that we forgot about, we know that.\u201d<\/p>\n That time for Regenda to get back in the San Jose Sharks lineup is tonight against the Senators.<\/p>\n \u201cHasn\u2019t played in a while, so we got to get him in,\u201d Warsofsky said on Sunday.<\/p>\n Laurent Brossoit<\/a> will get his first NHL start since April 18th 2024. He last played an NHL game on April 28th, 2024, for the Winnipeg Jets<\/a>. That game was in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs<\/a>, and he came in relief of Connor Hellebuyck<\/a>.<\/p>\n Warsofsky expressed a lot of confidence in starting Brossoit.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s a veteran guy. He\u2019s been around some really good hockey. Again, he takes a lot of good care with his preparation. I don\u2019t think he\u2019s gonna be overwhelmed by any moment,\u201d Warsofsky said.<\/p>\n No update on Chernyshov or Askarov\u2019s recovery timeline<\/p>\n Igor Chernyshov<\/a> left Saturday\u2019s game after a scary injury after taking a hit from Mike Matheson. The winger was sent to the hospital but returned before the game ended. Warsofsky told reporters postgame that Chernyshov would travel with the team to Ottawa.<\/p>\n According to SJHN, the Sharks winger suffered a concussion<\/a> on the play, but there doesn\u2019t appear to be any other injury.<\/p>\n Warsofsky was asked about how Chernyshov is feeling today, while also confirming that he wouldn\u2019t play. Chernyshov is officially out with an upper-body injury, as Warsofsky didn\u2019t confirm or deny a concussion.<\/p>\n When asked about an update, Warsofsky responded with \u201cNo. It\u2019s too early. We\u2019ve got to get him evaluated when we get back.\u201d<\/p>\n The same can be said for Yaroslav Askarov<\/a>, who is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
