Officials launched a recovery effort after a body was found submerged in the California Aqueduct in Phelan on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The discovery was first reported about 2:45 p.m. March 16 in the aqueduct near Johnson Road, according to San Bernardino County Fire Department logs.<\/p>\n

Officials requested a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department dive team to respond to the scene to assist in recovering the body, which remained underwater, according to initial reports from the scene.<\/p>\n

The incident follows a search and rescue operation that took place Wednesday, March 11, when a person was reported to have gone into the water in Llano, officials said. No victim was found at the time.<\/p>\n

No further details were avialable as the investigation and recovery effort continued.<\/p>\n
