The National Weather Service is advising the public to drink plenty of water, avoid outdoor activities, and stay indoors in cool, air-conditioned rooms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThere is a high risk for dangerous heat illness for anyone, especially for the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning, and those active outdoors,\u201d the NWS forecast states.<\/p>\n<p><a data-ylk=\"ct:story;elm:img;itc:0;\" class=\"stretched-box\" href=\"https:\/\/ktla.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/03\/heat-wave.png\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><img alt=\"&lt;em&gt;An extreme heat wave is forecast for Southern California starting Tuesday. (NWS)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The heat wave is expected to break numerous daily and monthly heat records, with temperatures rising 20 to 30 degrees above average for this time of year.
