BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) \u2014 On St. Patrick\u2019s Day, local restaurants and pubs in Bakersfield are going all out to celebrate the holiday in style.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just festive sights, though \u2014 it\u2019s also festive sounds.<\/p>\n Byrne said he had a lifetime of experience playing the pipes.<\/p>\n \u201cSince I was 10, so 60 years ago. I\u2019ve given my age away!\u201d Byrne said.<\/p>\n Some patrons at McGarry\u2019s Irish Pub have been coming to hear the pipes for years.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s St. Patrick\u2019s Day. We share St. Patrick\u2019s Day every year, come out and listen to the pipers,\u201d said patron Kevin Hiles.<\/p>\n And it\u2019s not just one pub where you can hear these pipes, nor is it just from one man. The Kern County Fire Pipes and Drums marched into Pyrenees Cafe in full force to deliver a spirited performance.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is one of the things we practice for year round and it\u2019s always a lot of fun,\u201d said Pipe Major Nick Haynes. \u201cIt\u2019s great to jump around and just play in different bars and venues, talk to people and educate them about the instrument.\u201d<\/p>\n
