Power for thousands of San Francisco residents has been restored Friday night after an equipment failure in the Mission District, according to Pacific Gas and Electric’s\u00a0outage map<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The power outage came has the city experienced a\u00a0record-breaking heat wave<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n

PG&E said<\/a> the outage was caused by\u00a0electrical equipment failure in an underground vault at 18th and\u00a0Guerrero streets.<\/p>\n

As of 8 p.m., power was off for just a handful of PG&E customers in the city, according to the\u00a0utility’s outage map<\/a>. In total, the outage affected about 11,000 customers in\u00a0Cole Valley, Ashbury Heights, Mount Sutro, the Inner Sunset, Haight-Ashbury and the Castro. The outage also included the UCSF\u00a0Parnassus campus.<\/p>\n
