Prior to that it had only gotten up to 94 a total of 3 times over the past 133 years of record keeping during this month.

Please take every precaution as far as children and vehicles with these temperatures. As the National Weather Service’s saying goes “look before you lock”. A child’s body temperature can rise 3 to 5 times faster than that of an adult and the heat increases quickly and dangerously in a vehicle.

The heat is forecast to stay for another day, and if Bakersfield breaks into the 90s again it’ll break yet another record which was 89 set back in 1928.
