A motorcyclist was killed Friday evening after losing control on Interstate 5 and being run over by another motorist\u2019s vehicle in south Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n

The CHP\u2019s South Sacramento office received a report around 10 p.m. of a crash on Interstate 5 near Pocket Road. Officers found the rider in the roadway in the No. 3 lane, the agency said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreliminary investigation indicates the motorcyclist lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to overturn and eject the rider into the lane,\u201d the CHP said in a news release. \u201cThe rider was subsequently struck by a passing vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators,\u201d the CHP said.<\/p>\n

Officials said alcohol was not suspected to be a factor in the crash.<\/p>\n

The identity of the motorcyclist will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner\u2019s Office after next of kin are notified.<\/p>\n
