SAN JOSE \u2013 Michael Misa\u2019s brief wait to make his NHL debut<\/a> with the San Jose Sharks is coming to an end.<\/p>\n

Misa will play in his first NHL game<\/a> on Tuesday when the Sharks host the Carolina Hurricanes to close out their season-opening three-game homestand, coach Ryan Warsofsky confirmed.<\/p>\n

The Sharks juggled their lines<\/a> for Monday\u2019s practice, and Misa, a center, skated on the Sharks\u2019 third line with wingers Ty Dellandrea and Philipp Kurashev. The Sharks also put William Eklund and Tyler Toffoli with Macklin Celebrini, and Will Smith and Jeff Skinner with center Alexander Wennberg.<\/p>\n

Misa, drafted second overall by the Sharks in June, had been a healthy scratch for San Jose\u2019s first two games against the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday and the Anaheim Ducks<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Sharks also shuffled their defense pairs for Monday\u2019s practice, with Dmitry Orlov and Mario Ferraro forming the top line, Nick Leddy with Timothy Liljegren, and Sam Dickinson paired with John Klingberg.<\/p>\n

It appeared that forward Collin Graf, Vincent Desharnais, and Shakir Mukhamadullin will be scratched against the Hurricanes.<\/p>\n

WAIVER WIRE<\/p>\n

Defensemen Lucas Carlsson and Jack Thompson, who both began the season on the Sharks\u2019 injured non-roster list with lower-body ailments, cleared waivers on Monday<\/a> and were assigned to the Barracuda of the AHL. Thompson, a right-shot defenseman, was injured late in the preseason, and Carlsson was unable to play in any of the six Sharks exhibition games.<\/p>\n

The Sharks didn\u2019t have any room to add Thompson or Carlsson to their active roster as they\u2019re already carrying eight defensemen, with right-shot blueliners John Klingberg, Timothy Liljegren, and Nick Leddy, Mario Ferraro, Sam Dickinson, and Shakir Mukhamadullin on the left side.<\/p>\n

Thompson and Carlsson will bolster a Barracuda defense corps that also includes, as of Monday, Luca Cagnoni, Jake Furlong, Noah Beck, and Braden Hache on the left side and Mattias Havelid, Cole Clayton, John Gormley, and Jack Bar on the right.<\/p>\n
