BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A motorcyclist was killed Saturday night in a multi-vehicle crash on northbound lanes of Highway 99, near the Ming Avenue off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n
Officers with CHP Bakersfield said they first responded to the crash around 9:25 p.m.<\/p>\n
An investigation determined a 39-year-old man was riding a motorcycle northbound on Hwy. 99. The motorcyclist was headed to the on-ramp to westbound traffic of Hwy. 58.<\/p>\n
Officers determined a 36-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Tahoe unsafely crossed the line dividing the transition road and on-ramp lanes.<\/p>\n
This caused the motorcyclist to crash into the left side of the Chevrolet.<\/p>\n
The rider was ejected from the motorcycle, where he was struck by oncoming traffic.<\/p>\n
The CHP said the rider suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
At this time, it was determined that impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash.<\/p>\n
