Planet Fitness may have a \u201cjudgement free zone\u201d (the misspelling is part of the brand). But the city of Clovis has judged the gym franchise closed until further notice.<\/p>\n

The gym in the shopping center at Shaw and Clovis avenues (634 Shaw Ave.) has been closed since March 17 because of a structural problem with the entryway.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe city\u2019s Building Division inspected the property and posted a notice that it is not safe to occupy. The covered front entry area appears to be pulling away from the building. A temporary safety fence has been installed around the property. The city is working with the property owner to make the needed corrections. The building is closed until the issues are resolved,\u201d Chad McCollum with the city of Clovis said.<\/p>\n

\nMembers Can Work Out at Planet Fitness Locations<\/p>\n

A chain-link fence blocks the front of the gym. As of Monday morning, any structural damage was not immediately noticeable. No construction crews were on site.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe health and safety of our members and team members is a top priority at Planet Fitness. The franchise group is working diligently with its landlord and vendors on necessary repairs and plans to reopen as quickly as possible. All members are invited to work out at nearby locations during the temporary closure, regardless of membership type,\u201d Planet Fitness spokesperson Heather Pearson said.<\/p>\n

The same statement appears on signs posted along the fence.<\/p>\n

There is no timetable for how long it will take to make the repairs.<\/p>\n

Planet Fitness has four other locations in Fresno, plus gyms in Madera and Reedley. A regular membership allows the use of just one main gym, although that is waived for now.<\/p>\n

Property records show Solano Beach-based Hinds Investments LP owns the property, managed by its affiliate Daytom Enterprises, Inc. A message to the companies went unreturned.<\/p>\n
