(FOX26) \u2014 Ten people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence during a checkpoint operation on Saturday in Fresno.<\/p>\n<p>The checkpoint ran from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Clinton and Weber Avenues.<\/p>\n<p>[RELATED] <a href=\"https:\/\/kmph.com\/news\/local\/police-passed-out-amazon-driver-wakes-up-drives-off-crashes-arrested-in-visalia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Visalia Police: Passed out Amazon driver wakes up, drives off, crashes &#8211; arrested<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Police contacted 322 vehicles during the operation. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to the DUI arrests, 34 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended or revoked license.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said DUI checkpoint locations are based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. <\/p>\n<p>The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.<\/p>\n<p>The next DUI enforcement operation will be a DUI checkpoint scheduled for April 3rd.<\/p>\n<p>Funding for the March 21 checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FRESNO, Calif.
