LA JOLLA, Calif. \u2013 UC San Diego (8-9) fell to the Air Force Academy (5-8) by a score of 0-4 on Monday at the Northview Tennis Courts. The Tritons secured a doubles victory at the No. 2 position but were unable to capture any singles points before Air Force clinched the match.

\nHOW IT HAPPENED
\nUC San Diego faced a challenging match in doubles play, ultimately dropping the doubles point. The pairing of Andrew Beceiro<\/a> and Prathinav Chunduru<\/a> secured a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles, providing a strong start. However, Abhinav Chunduru<\/a> and Trevor Nguyen<\/a> fell 5-7 on No. 1, while Yaron Guberman<\/a> and Oliver Worth<\/a> ended with a 4-6 score at No. 3 doubles.

\nIn singles action, Nguyen battled but was defeated 6-7(2), 1-6 on No. 2. A. Chunduru also faced a tough opponent, resulting in a 5-7, 1-6 loss at No. 4. To finish the match, David Adamson<\/a> completed his match at No. 6, finishing 1-6, 4-6.

\nSeveral matches were left unfinished, including Worth’s contest at No. 1 singles, where he led 7-6(4), 3-2 before play was suspended. P. Chunduru’s match at No. 3 singles was also halted at 6-3, 2-6, 1-1, along with Guberman’s match at No. 5 singles, where he trailed 5-7, 2-4.<\/p>\n

\n“The match was a physically fatigued team vs a mentally fatigued team. We had chances in the doubles to get the crucial point to allow us to keep fighting to stretch out the match. Ultimately we could not shift gears after a long period without competing,” head coach Timmer Willing<\/a> regards. “Looking ahead,” he continues,\u00a0“our first sets are\u00a0a step towards being ready to play in Sacramento and Davis this week.”
