Police cordoned off the intersection in all directions and placed a shield to block a body from view.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"634\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/80c43bcb-8248-410d-a401-7f4ae1122a64-305198-a6cbgk5z-943157-6joiFX3T-1024x634.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-182618\"  \/>Long Beach police block off the intersection of Fourth Street and Ximeno Avenue after a deadly crash on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>More details weren\u2019t immediately available.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic deaths have been a scourge recently in Long Beach. Last year, there were 53 fatal collisions, the most in more than a decade.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1769036349_862_thumbnail.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"chart visualization\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Pedestrians, cyclists and people on scooters took the brunt of the death toll. Statistics show 32 people were killed while walking or riding in Long Beach, outpacing the number of people murdered: 29.<\/p>\n<p>After pressure from residents, local politicians recently said they want to <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/news\/long-beachs-streets-are-too-dangerous-solutions-too-slow-city-council-says\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">speed up the pace of safety improvements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is a breaking news story.
