Flores is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 12.<\/p>\n<p>Flores was convicted of gunning down 30-year-old Jefferson Anthony Davis at 1774 W. Glenoaks Ave., near West La Palma Avenue and Euclid Street, on April 16, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Police responded to the shooting at 11:30 p.m. in which Flores confronted Davis, according to a trial brief from prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>Armed with an AR-15-style rifle, Flores went looking for Davis in an alley, prosecutors said. When he found Davis at his garage, the victim \u201crepeatedly asked\u201d Flores to \u201cput the gun down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Davis tried to snatch the rifle away, Flores \u201cstepped back and fired the rifle one time at the victim\u2019s midsection and killed him,\u201d prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<p>Flores ran away and hid the weapon near his uncle\u2019s home in Pomona, prosecutors said. Flores\u2019 city of residence was not provided.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant\u2019s attorney argued it was an accidental discharge of the weapon, according to court papers.
