{"id":236836,"date":"2026-03-26T02:11:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T02:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/236836\/"},"modified":"2026-03-26T02:11:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T02:11:13","slug":"santa-rosa-company-buys-site-of-crime-plagued-oakland-in-n-out-burger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/236836\/","title":{"rendered":"Santa Rosa company buys site of crime-plagued Oakland In-N-Out Burger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OAKLAND \u2014 A Santa Rosa company that owns several dining establishments bought the site of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressdemocrat.com\/2024\/01\/26\/in-n-out-to-close-first-location-in-its-75-year-history-due-to-a-wave-of-car-break-ins-and-robberies\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In-N-Out Burger restaurant in East Oakland that closed its doors two years ago<\/a> over high-crime concerns by executives.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chandihospitality.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chandi Hospitality<\/a>, acting through its real estate unit, bought the former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2024\/01\/21\/in-n-out-burger-closing-oakland-location-citing-crime-safety-issues\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In-N-Out Burger property<\/a> from the fast-food chain for $1.8 million, according to documents filed on March 20 with the Alameda County Recorder\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>The 1-acre site occupies a prominent spot near the interchange of Interstate 880 and Hegenberger Road, Alameda County property files show.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the store closure in 2024, In-N-Out Chief Operating Officer Denny Warnick said, \u201cDespite repeated steps to create safer conditions, our customers and associates are regularly victimized by car break-ins, property damage, theft, and armed robberies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The shutdown occurred despite the location\u2019s robust performance, In-N-Out stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis location remains a busy and profitable one for the company,\u201d Warnick said.<\/p>\n<p>But, he said, In-N-Out couldn\u2019t ask employees or customers to visit an \u201cunsafe location.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chandi Hospitality\u2019s endeavors include \u201crehabbing beat-up restaurants\u201d and joining new franchises, the company says.<\/p>\n<p>The company has plenty of experience in the restaurant business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe own a wide range of restaurants that serve different markets and different needs,\u201d Chandi states on its website. \u201cFrom our first Mountain Mike\u2019s Pizza to our entry into upscale dining, each of our 11 restaurants has helped us learn how to better serve our investors, customers, landlords and community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chandihospitality.com\/restaurants-1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">company\u2019s Bay Area restaurants<\/a>\u00a0include Beer Baron in Santa Rosa and a Chicken Guy! in American Canyon in Napa County.
