SAN JOSE \u2013 A 42-year-old San Jose man is headed to federal prison for 30 years following his conviction on charges of possession of child pornography and attempted enticement of a minor, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n
Christopher Schuette was arrested in February 2022, just two months after he finished serving a federal prison sentence for crimes including distribution of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office. At the time, Schuette was found with a smartphone that contained more than 1,200 images of child pornography.<\/p>\n
An investigation revealed Schuette had been using multiple Instagram profiles to talk with others about child pornography, prosecutors said, adding that he enticed an 11-year-old girl to create and send him sexually explicit videos of herself and others.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors said Schuette told another Instagram user he was particularly attracted to girls between the ages of 7 and 9.<\/p>\n
Schuette was indicted in June 2022 on the child pornography possession charge and in October 2022 on the attempted enticement charge. A jury convicted him in January 2023.<\/p>\n
In addition to the prison term, Schuette must serve a lifetime of supervised release and pay restitution to his victims, prosecutors said. The amount will be determined at a later date.<\/p>\n
