How do you want to change Sunset Boulevard?<\/p>\n
The L.A. Department of Transportation is asking the public what kind of improvements they prefer along four miles of Sunset Boulevard and Cesar Chavez Avenue \u2014 from Fountain Avenue in Silver Lake, through Echo Park, to Alameda Street downtown.<\/p>\n
The survey,\u00a0which is available through March 31<\/a>, comes as\u00a0some business and community members worry the project could reduce street parking\u00a0to make way for bike or bus lanes, a concern raised at a Silver Lake Chamber of Commerce meeting last week. LADOT officials did not directly answer that question.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0questionnaire seeks to find out what\u2019s more important to you: Street parking, slower cars, safer bike access, or \u2026 something else? What would get you to take the bus more often? Lower fares? Faster buses? More shade at the bus stops?<\/p>\n The transportation department has secured $10 million\u00a0for the Douglas Street to Alameda Street stretch of the\u00a0Sunset\/Chavez Safety and Mobility Project<\/a>, and will seek additional funding later for Phase 2 of the project from Douglas Street to Fountain Avenue, according to the LADOT Public Information Office.<\/p>\n The results of the survey will be presented publicly in a series of open houses this coming spring and summer, LADOT said. The project design will continue through this year.<\/p>\n
