A 31-year-old man was arrested Wednesday following a violent domestic incident, the Fresno Police Department told GV Wire.<\/p>\n

According to police, officers responded to a local hospital shortly after 3:30 p.m. to a report of a domestic violence incident involving a dating partner. Officers learned that the suspect, Reno Diego Gatti, allegedly struck the victim on the right side of the face with a lug wrench, causing nausea and a loss of consciousness.<\/p>\n

After the victim regained consciousness, authorities said the victim was struck on the left leg by Gatti and dragged into a bedroom.\u00a0 Once inside, the victim attempted to call a relative, but Gatti allegedly took the phone and prevented the call.<\/p>\n

\nVictim Escapes<\/p>\n

The victim was ultimately able to escape while the suspect was using the restroom and later positively identified Gatti to officers, leading to his arrest.<\/p>\n

According to the arrest records, Gatti was booked on multiple felony charges, including kidnapping, robbery, false imprisonment with violence, assault with a deadly weapon not involving a firearm, corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant with prior incidents, and criminal threats.<\/p>\n

He also faces a misdemeanor charge for damaging a wireless communication device.<\/p>\n

His bail totals $170,000.<\/p>\n

Authorities did not immediately release additional details about the victim\u2019s condition.<\/p>\n
