(FOX26) \u2014 A developmentally challenged girl will soon have access to critical mobility equipment after FOX26 News shared her story and the need for donations.<\/p>\n<p>22-month-old Ahzunea Mondragon-Lyday was born with Costello syndrome, a disorder that can cause developmental delays and can put someone at high risk for getting sick.<\/p>\n<p>FOX26 News Reporter <a href=\"https:\/\/kmph.com\/news\/local\/valley-parents-seek-community-help-to-fund-treatment-to-help-daughter-walk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Madison Wilber met with her parents<\/a> to learn more about the disorder and what she needed to improve her condition.<\/p>\n<p>One of her mothers, Shirley Mondragon-Lyday, said the condition has brought a range of serious medical concerns and frequent hospital visits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery three months she&#8217;s getting checked for cancer because she can be high risk for it,&#8221; Mondragon-Lyday said. &#8220;She does have kidney problems, she has GI problems, heart problems.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After they shared Ahzunea&#8217;s story, Fresno City Councilmember Annalisa Perea got involved, and with the help of the Fresno Firefighters Association, Fresno Fire Chiefs Association,  the Fresno Police and Fire Chaplaincy, and others, she helped raise $7,485.50.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/help-get-ahzunea-her-stander-to-be-able-to-walk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">GoFundMe<\/a> set up by the family has also raised over $3,800.<\/p>\n<p>Comment with Bubbles<\/p>\n<p>BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what Fresno is all about, showing up for one another,&#8221; said Councilmember Annalisa Perea. &#8220;Ahzunea\u2019s journey has touched so many, and this support reflects a community that leads with compassion, action, and heart.
