(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 Governor Gavin Newsom issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/2026\/03\/25\/governor-newsom-issues-final-warning-to-15-communities-violating-state-housing-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">final warning<\/a> Wednesday to 15 communities for failing to adopt a housing plan.<\/p>\n<p>The list includes California City and Ridgecrest.<\/p>\n<p>According to California state housing law, every community must adopt a &#8220;housing element&#8221;, that demonstrates how they plan on addressing housing needs for residents of all income levels. The plan is then submitted to Housing and Community Development for review. The Governor&#8217;s Office says the 15 communities that received notice are more than two years behind schedule and do not have plans to become compliant within 60 days.<\/p>\n<p>No community gets a pass when it comes to addressing homelessness or creating more housing access. &#8211; Governor Gavin NewsomComment with Bubbles<\/p>\n<p>BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT<\/p>\n<p>Governor Newsom says the list of 15, along with other communities in the process of becoming compliant, will receive a Notice of Violation and could face a lawsuit if they fail to complete the necessary steps within the next 60 days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
