BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) A woman was found gravely injured Wednesday night at an apartment complex along College Avenue in Bakersfield and later died at the hospital, according to police.<\/p>\n

Neighbor Kristine Camero said she sensed something was wrong outside a home along College Avenue just before 10 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cI already knew I had a feeling that there was an emergency,\u201d Camero said.<\/p>\n

Camero said she looked outside but could not clearly see what was happening. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I looked out the window, and I can’t really see the ambulance,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey were parked kind of towards where the couple lived.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bakersfield police said the woman was found at the Shadow Ridge apartment complex. <\/p>\n

Police identified 33-year-old Victor Farias as the man they believe assaulted the victim.<\/p>\n

Farias is said to be 5’7″ tall, 140 pounds, brown hair and hazel eyes. <\/p>\n

He has an active warrant for his arrest for homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse charges and domestic violence charges.<\/p>\n

Police said Farias fled and later abandoned his car near Tucker Road and Highway 58 in Tehachapi after an apparent hit-and-run crash.<\/p>\n

Farias is expected to face several charges, including homicide.<\/p>\n

Camero said the woman had two children. <\/p>\n
