Shoppers looking for handmade goods and locally owned food trucks can check out the inaugural Sierra Vista Street Market this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the old movie theater lot at Clovis and Santa Ana avenues.<\/p>\n

The event is a collaboration between Fresno Street Eats and Mujeres Market, offering a mix of artisan vendors and food trucks.<\/p>\n

Mike Osegueda, the founder of Fresno Street Eats, said, \u201cThis is one of the Fresno Street Eats flagship locations for years now. We\u2019ve been looking for ways to breathe new life into our Saturday offerings there, and this new collaboration with Mujeres Market is sure to do just that. We look forward to this event and more like it in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nWhat to Expect?<\/p>\n

Gabby Gaona, event coordinator for Mujeres Market, said attendees can expect \u201ca lot of hand-made items, you will see local businesses\u2026like earrings, cups, or sewn bags. So it\u2019s all artisan goods.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gaona said the market will feature about 22 vendors and 10 food trucks. \u201cSo we\u2019re trying to bring people back to Sierra Vista,\u201d she said, referencing the mall\u2019s history as a popular weekend destination before facing the same challenges as malls throughout America.<\/p>\n

The outdoor market will include tables and chairs for visitors to enjoy meals and music. Gaona also noted that many vendors offer items for children.<\/p>\n

Gaona, who founded Mujeres Market three years ago, supports the coordination of these events. She said the market is designed to support local businesses and provide alternatives to big online retailers.<\/p>\n

\u201cBuying local, sometimes it\u2019s cheaper, and it\u2019s made with love from someone,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

This event is the first of several for Mujeres Market, with another fully booked market scheduled for April 11 at Manchester Mall and one more on April 25 at Campus Point.<\/p>\n

Gaona said she hopes to maintain regular indoor and outdoor markets for local vendors.<\/p>\n
