After what shapes up as a postcard-perfect weekend with sunny skies and highs in the upper 80s, Fresno might see the return of rain.<\/p>\n

The National Weather Service in Hanford is predicting a 20%-to-30% chance of light rain Tuesday through Thursday for Fresno.<\/p>\n

In addition, NWS said in its Friday morning discussion that the Sierra Nevada has a 40%-to-60% chance of receiving 5 inches or more of snow during that 72-hour window at elevations of 7,000 feet and higher.<\/p>\n

Starting Monday, the high Sierra and deserts will experience wind gusts reaching 40 mph. And some locations (Mojave Desert and Tioga Pass) could have wind gusts exceeding 55 mph on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Snowmelt Spikes Dangers in Valley Waterways<\/p>\n

NWS reminds everyone to be careful near rivers and streams.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith these warmer temperatures also extending into the Sierra Nevada mountains, there continues to be snowmelt runoff,\u201d NWS said. \u201cRivers that feed off of this snowmelt will continue to run cold and fast. Please exercise caution when swimming in water ways, as even the most experienced swimmers can experience temperature shock.\u201d<\/p>\n
